Essendon Chief Executive Officer Xavier Campbell says he hopes the club can announce some of the top-up players for next season within the next 24 hours.
If reports are correct, the Bombers are set to announce the signings of former Fremantle midfielder Ryan Crowley and former Geelong midfielder James Kelly.
Crowley served a 12 month suspension last year for an prohibited substance found in a painkiller, and was then delisted at the end of the year.
While Kelly finished his career at the Cats at the end of last year, after he was not offered a new contract.
The Bombers are also said to be looking at former Demons ruckman Mark Jamar, who works at the club as a part-time ruck coach. Former Hawk Jonathan Simpkin, former Cat Mathew Stokes and former Magpie Sam Dwyer are all said to be a chance to be contacted also.
