Essendon midfielder Dyson Heppell has confirmed that he will return to the club at the beginning of the 2017 season.

Heppell signed a new five year deal during the 2015 season and will honour that deal, seeing through until the 2020 season.

The young midfielder, who has been earmarked to captain the side in the future, joins Travis Colyer, Heath Hocking, David Myers and Cale Hooker in re-committing to the club for the 2017 season, despite missing the 2016 season.
