Essendon coach John Worsfold has told AFL rivals Melbourne to back off after they admitted interest in suspended Bombers defender Michael Hibberd.

Demons chief executive Peter Jackson has confirmed speculation that they are interested in Hibberd, who is among the 12 Essendon players serving anti-doping bans.

Hibberd is contracted to Essendon for next season, but if he wanted to leave he might be able to delist himself and nominate as a free agent.
