Essendon midfielder Zach Merrett is having one seriously good season in the toughest year the Bombers have had to endure in a long, long time.
Merrett is averaging 28 disposals this season and has become the Bombers number one midfielder this season with the senior likes of Jobe Watson, Dyson Heppell and Brent Stanton sitting on the sidelines this season.
While Merrett continues to lean on those suspended players away from the football club, there's one former superstar that he has spent the last six months with since the players were suspended.
And that's former West Coast and Carlton champion Chris Judd.
Coach John Worsfold introduced Judd to Merrett at the beginning of the year and the young Bomber star has been picking the brains of the two time Brownlow Medallist since.
“He’s been fantastic for me.
“We don’t really look at the footy stuff, obviously we’ve got enough coaches and analysts to go through that with.
“It’s more the preparation, the attitude … as well as the leadership side of things.
“He’s been great in that field.”
