Essendon legend Tim Watson says he honestly does not know whether his son Jobe will return back to the club next season, saying he just wants to see him happy.

Watson is currently living it up with team-mates in Croatia as the players serve their last months of their suspension for their involvement in the supplements saga back in 2012.

Tim, speaking on Channel Seven's Talking Footy says that Jobe is remaining fit and training, and will return at least before October as he attends his sisters' weddings.

"At this stage, all I know is that he is coming back in October for our daughter Billie's wedding in Bali, that's all I know at this stage" Watson said.

Host Luke Darcy put the question to Watson as to whether a timeline had been put in front of Jobe by the club for list management purposes.

"I'm not aware of a date, but I guess from the club's perspective, the planning and everything that goes on,  then at some point then they're going to want to know, which will probably be at the end of the season.

"He is training and he is keeping very fit, he's in super condition.

"He's never said to me that he is going to go back and play or not.

"I'm not avoiding the question, but at the end of the day, with everything that he has been through, I just want to see him happy, whether that's back playing or not."
